Reconstruction Surgery Stories MEI Patient Stories The following patients have been kind enough to share their experiences of reconstruction surgery at Michigan Ear Institute. Like nearly everyone, these patients were anxious before surgery. They wished that they could hear of other patient’s stories. We are grateful for their time and compassion. Many other MEI patients have also volunteered to speak with others by phone - their numbers are available upon request.

Willa Moss' Story: "Third Time Is a Charm"
My dilemma started in 1957 as a result of a busted eardrum. I lost partial hearing in my left ear. As time progressed, in 1966, I developed an infection, which lead to an emergency surgery. As a result of that surgery, 90% of my hearing in the left ear was gone. I resorted to hearing aids as a method of restoration of the hearing. In 1991 I was referred to a physician who could possibly restore my hearing through surgery. After two surgeries and several consultations, I was told my hearing could not be restored. With the passing of time and many embarrassing moments because I could not hear all conversations directed to me, I grew very frustrated. The new millennium brought about new hope. In 2002 I went for a scheduled appointment to be tested for a new hearing aid. That was when I met Dr. Bahu. After my examination, Dr. Bahu explained that he knew a surgeon who could restore a percentage of my hearing. Dr. Bahu was so convincing that I thought all right, maybe I’ll try once more. I called to schedule an appointment and hence the meeting of Dr. Dennis Bojrab. After testing and consultations with Dr. Bojrab, I had a decision to make. Dr. Bojrab took the time to explain how and why he felt he could restore some of my hearing. Because of Dr. Bojrab’s mannerism, I developed confidence in him and the decision was made. December 9, 2002 I underwent a third surgery to restore hearing in my left ear. Dr. Dennis Bojrab successfully rebuilt an eardrum and “I can hear!!!” The other surgeries had left me very ill, but not Dr. Dennis Bojrab. Dr. Bojrab is very caring and trustworthy. I think much of the success of any physician is not just he along but his staff as well. Dr. Dennis Bojrab the staff and associates are very knowledgeable and congenial. I would strongly recommend Dr. Dennis Bojrab and Associates at the Michigan Ear Institute to any and everyone. Respectfully, | ||
