Dr. Eleanor Y. Chan

Dr. Chan has special interests in the evaluation and treatment of hearing loss, chronic ear diseases, dizziness and balance disorders, tinnitus, facial nerve conditions and skull base tumors such as acoustic neuromas.  She gives regular lectures on these topics to her peers at conferences and meetings as well as to community groups, and maintains an active research component to her clinical practice.  She is an energetic instructor to medical students and residents from the Wayne State University Medical School and Michigan’s Osteopathic Medical Programs.  She also teaches one of the largest and most reputable temporal bone surgical dissection courses in the country.  She is an active member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery and the Canadian Society of Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery.

Apart from work, Dr. Chan juggles a busy schedule of being a mother and pursuing her hobbies of music, art and competitive swimming.  She is an accomplished concert pianist, and holds an Associateship Diploma for Piano Performer from the Royal Conservatory of Music.  She is also multilingual, with fluency in Chinese and a working knowledge of French.
